Everything you need to know about xIDENTITY at a glance.
xIDENTITY – What’s that?
xIDENTITY is the digital identity of XiTrust & A-Trust. Such an identity is required in order to digitally sign documents in a legally valid manner.
How can I digitally sign documents with xIDENTITY?
As soon as you have registered with xIDENTITY, you can log in to myXidentity, upload documents and sign them electronically.
What does this have to do with XiTrust MOXIS?
XiTrust MOXIS is the digital signature folder from XiTrust and the enterprise solution for the implementation of the eSignature. With XiTrust MOXIS, you always have an overview of your documents to be signed and can sign them in single or batch mode. XiTrust MOXIS is easily integrated into existing IT landscapes and workflow systems. Your documents never leave the company.
In order to use XiTrust MOXIS and sign documents electronically, a digital identity such as xIDENTITY is a basic requirement.
What is a Trust Center?
In electronic communication processes, a trust center certifies the respective identity of the communication partner. The Trust Center issues the qualified certificates that form the basis of a qualified electronic signature. The Trust Center’s qualified digital signature, with which each issued certificate is signed, guarantees the certificate’s security against forgery.
Is registration for xIDENTITY free of charge?
Private registration for individuals is currently free of charge. When implementing corporate solutions for online contracts or for the use of XiTrust MOXIS, the costs for video identification and certificate issuance are charged according to the number of users (prices on request).
How does registration work?
To register for xIDENTITY, you need a mobile phone, Internet connection with webcam access and an identity card. To get your digital identity, you go through a video identification procedure. This process takes about ten minutes and is carried out by XiTrust Partner WebID Solutions. The necessary registration form can be found here: XignUp
Complete the form in a way that your data matches that of your ID document. After confirmation, you can start the video session with the Call Center Agent with a mouse click. You will now be connected. In this video session, your data and the authenticity of your ID document are meticulously checked. This involves a special procedure in which you have 100% certainty that no other person can apply for a digital identity with your data. After successful verification, you will receive an activation code by SMS, which you confirm.
In the last step you define your signature password. You need this password every time you want to digitally sign a document by remote signature. Make sure that you memorize your personal password!
How can I electronically sign documents using my xIDENTITY?
If you want to sign a document electronically, you will be asked to enter your mobile phone number and your signature password. You will then receive an SMS message with a six-digit TAN code that is valid for five minutes. After entering the TAN code, the document is legally signed.
It is now possible to trigger the signature process with the speed-sign app (available free of charge on all popular platforms such as AppStore, Google Play, etc.) by scanning a QR code or using your fingerprint an face ID, respectively.
Which documents can I sign in myXidentity?
In myXidentity every PDF document can be uploaded and legally signed.
Where is my xIDENTITY valid – also outside Europe/EU? Who accepts a document signed with xIDENTITY?
The eIDAS Regulation, which has been in force since July 2016, has established that the use of a certificate issued in the EU is valid and must be recognised throughout the EU. Since the eIDAS Regulation has the strictest requirements worldwide with regard to signature guidelines and laws, electronically signed documents are implicitly accepted outside the EU using xIDENTITY.
Can I also check or validate signatures in myXidentity?
When you electronically sign a document in your myXidentity account, you are immediately shown whether the signature or certificate is valid.
Can I also sign batch documents in myXidentity in bulk? What if two signatures are required on one document?
xIDENTITY serves primarily as a digital identity, which is a prerequisite for the electronic signing of documents. It is possible to upload and sign documents in myXidentity, but without additional functionality such as batch signatures etc.
How secure is xIDENTITY? Can someone steal my digital identity?
Two things are always necessary to use xIDENTITY: possession (mobile phone) and knowledge (signature password). You will never be asked to reveal your signature password by e-mail, telephone or any other means. Each TAN code that you receive as an SMS message and that must be entered to sign a document is valid for five minutes. In addition, a comparison value is sent with each TAN code, which is also displayed in the input mask. Check that the comparison value matches every time you sign.
What are the legal consequences of signing a document with my xIDENTITY?
An advanced electronic signature with xIDENTITY is based on a qualified certificate and is therefore legally a qualified electronic signature. It is equivalent to a handwritten, paper-based signature and has the same legal effects.
What happens if my mobile phone is stolen?
No one can misuse your xIDENTITY without knowing your signature password. Your xIDENTITY is only linked to your phone number and not to your mobile phone in any other way, i.e. after locking your SIM card and activating a new SIM card with the same phone number, you can use xIDENTITY as before. For your security, you should still revoke your xIDENTITY if your mobile phone is lost or stolen and have a new certificate issued after activating your new SIM card.
I have changed my last name/my phone number – what happens now?
You revoke the certificate by entering the revocation password that you specified during registration. You can then have a new xIDENTITY issued to you with your changed data.
